HACCP Consultant Calgary | Plan Development & Implementation

Develop, review and implement a HACCP system that reflects your actual food, process, equipment and operational risks.

A strong HACCP plan is more than a completed template. It should accurately describe your process, identify significant biological, chemical and physical hazards, establish appropriate control measures and define how your team will monitor, correct and verify the system.

CS Food Safety provides HACCP consulting in Calgary for food manufacturers, processors, caterers, bakeries and other food businesses that need a new HACCP plan, an updated system, a gap assessment or implementation support.

HACCP Consulting for Calgary Food Businesses

We help businesses move from basic documentation to a structured HACCP system that employees can follow and management can verify.

What Is HACCP?

HACCP—Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point—is a preventive food safety approach used to identify hazards, determine where control is essential and establish monitoring, corrective action and verification procedures.

HACCP can support regulatory, customer, internal food safety and certification requirements, but it should not be presented as universally mandatory for every Calgary food business. The requirement depends on the product, process, jurisdiction, customer and certification scheme.

New HACCP Plans vs Existing HACCP Reviews

Some businesses need a complete plan built from the beginning. Others already have HACCP documentation but are experiencing gaps in monitoring, records, validation, staff understanding or alignment with current operations.

The consulting scope should be based on what already exists and what the business actually needs—not on replacing useful work unnecessarily.

What You Receive

Depending on scope: documented process flow, hazard analysis, CCP decision support, critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, verification procedures, records/forms, implementation guidance and plan-review recommendations.

Who Needs HACCP Support?

HACCP and Canadian Regulatory Requirements

CFIA preventive-control guidance uses the same core concepts that underpin HACCP: hazard analysis, effective control measures, critical control points where applicable, monitoring, corrective action, verification and records.

For businesses subject to a written PCP under the SFCR, HACCP documentation may form part of the overall preventive-control approach, but the business must ensure that the final system meets all applicable PCP requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every food business need HACCP?

No. HACCP may be required by certain customers, certification schemes, regulatory programs or internal food safety policies, but it is not accurate to say every Calgary food business is legally required to have a HACCP plan.

How long does developing a HACCP plan take?

It depends on the complexity of the food, process, number of products, availability of existing documentation and whether validation or additional technical evidence is needed.

Can you update an existing HACCP plan?

Yes. Existing plans can be reviewed against current processes, hazards, control measures, records and implementation.

Can HACCP support a Preventive Control Plan?

Yes. HACCP-based elements can support the food-safety portion of a PCP, but the final PCP must address all applicable SFCR requirements.

Do you provide HACCP templates?

We can provide forms and structures as part of a project, but the final HACCP plan should be customized to the actual operation.

Is HACCP the same as food safety certification?

No. HACCP is a food safety system. Certification is a separate process performed against a defined standard or scheme by an appropriate certification body.

HACCP is not the same as certification, and it is not universally mandatory for every Calgary food business. Approval and inspection decisions remain with the relevant authority or auditor.
